My Knife Guide is an independent UK reference on knife law and knife safety. It exists to answer what UK law actually says about a given knife. It also explains safe use, safe storage and safe disposal of knives. Every legal claim on this site links to legislation.gov.uk or gov.uk. Each claim also shows the date it was last checked.
Who runs this site
Sunny Patel is the editor and researcher behind My Knife Guide and works from the UK. Sunny researches each page from primary legal and government sources. Sunny also edits the site’s content and product listings against the editorial policy. This site does not employ or claim any legal qualification. Nothing on it is written or reviewed by a solicitor unless a specific page says so.
No manufacturer or retailer ownership
My Knife Guide is not owned by a knife manufacturer. It is not owned by a knife retailer or an affiliate network. No brand controls or pre-approves what this site publishes about its products or about the law. Where a page links to a retailer, that relationship is disclosed on the affiliate disclosure page. Commission never changes a legal claim or a carry-status label.
What this site covers
My Knife Guide covers three areas. UK knife law covers what is legal to carry, buy, sell and own, and how the rules differ across England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Legal pocket knives and everyday carry covers knives labelled against their UK carry status. Kitchen knife safety covers safe use, sharpening, storage and disposal. A statistics page also reports official knife crime data from government sources with citations.
What this site will not publish
My Knife Guide will not publish self-defence content. It will not frame any knife as a weapon for personal protection. Carrying a knife for self-defence is not a good reason in law and this site says so plainly rather than implying otherwise. It will not recommend a banned item or an illegal-to-carry item without the legal caveat attached. It will not publish content aimed at circumventing the law, fabricated product reviews, invented test results, or claims of laboratory testing that did not happen.
